LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD IN THEATER (LEGENDS)
First Annual Image Awards
The First Annual IMAGE AWARDS chose BERNARDO to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award in Theater on January 4, 2013 at the famed Hollywood landmark Florentine Gardens.

The IMAGE AWARDS honors the Legends, Icons, Leaders and Luminaries of the Filipino-American community in Los Angeles. The organizers announced that Bernardo was unanimously chosen by the Selection Committee as a recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award as a veritable “LEGEND” in the Performing Arts for the last 30 years.

UNDERSCORING HIS COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROJECTS, Good Shepherd Ambulance Director for Marketing BERNARDO BERNARDO was given the BAYANI AWARD 2012 for “personifying the Bayanihan spirit.” The award was given during the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce–SouthBay Los angeles Area last Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Los Angeles Harbor College.

Presenters of the awards were City of Carson Mayor Jim Dear and Congressperson Laura Richardson of the 37th District.

RECIPIENT OF THE 2012 FILIPINO-AMERICAN HERITAGE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR ENTERTAINMENT
BERNARDO BERNARDO received this award along with Certificates of Recognition from the State of California, the County of Los Angeles, and the City of Los Angeles for “outstanding contributions to the Filipino-American community through Music and Entertainment.”

For the first time ever this national award was given to 20 recipients from diverse fields selected from nominations received from all over the United States.This national recognition honors Filipino Americans who, in the estimation of the Los Angeles Filipino Association of City Employees (LAFACE), “helped shape the last 425 years of Fil-Ams in United States.”

“The Romance of Magno Rubio” / “Ang Romansa ni Magno Rubio”
The two plays ran in repertory at Inside the Ford Theatre, from November 4 through December 11, 2011. Based on Lonnie Carter’s play with translation and direction by BERNARDO BERNARDO– inspired by Carlos Bulosan’s short story on the trials and triumphs of the Filipino Spirit in the Migrant Fields of 1930′s California.

2005 FILIPINAS MAGAZINE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR ENTERTAINMENT

The FILIPINAS MAGAZINE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD for Entertainment is presented to Bernardo on June 3, 2005 by Patrick McAllister, Senior Region Sales Manager, Region IX, of Anheuser-Busch, Inc. (Makers of Bud Beer).

Annual awards which recognizes the accomplishments of the advocates, role models, and movers and shakers in the Filipino-American community.

Citing Bernardo as “an actor par excellence,” the nationally-circulated US monthly glossy gave the prestigious award to Bernardo as one of the top ten Filipino Achievers of the Year, in “recognition of the accomplishments of the advocates, role models, and movers and shakers in the Filipino-American community.”

Previous Entertainment Awardees include singer Jocelyn Enriquez; actors, Tia Carrere, Lou Diamond Philips, Rob Schneider; film director, Gene Cajayon and scriptwriter John Manal Castro (“The Debut”); and David Maquiling (“Too Much Sleep”), the only Fil-Am in the Directors Guild 
of America; and Hollywood producer, Dean Devlin(“Independence Day,” “The Patriot,” and “Stargate”).
