Citing Bernardo as "an actor par excellence," the nationally-circulated US monthly glossy gave the prestigious award to Bernardo as one of the top ten Filipino Achievers of the Year, in "recognition of the accomplishments of the advocates, role models, and movers and shakers in the Filipino-American community."

The outstanding production reaped standing ovations and garnered rave reviews. Out of more than 140 plays in Chicago, "MAGNO RUBIO" was chosen by the JEFF Awards (Chicago's Tony's) as one of the top five and was nominated for Best Production and Best Acting Ensemble.
